From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. His song "Where Are We Now?" lost the Best Track award to "Do I Wanna Know?" by Arctic Monkeys.
Among the winners at the magazine's annual awards bash were Jake Bugg (Best New Act), Chrissie Hynde (Classic Songwriter) and Vampire Weekend (Best Act in the World Today).
Biffy Clyro's Opposites nabbed Best Album at the ceremony, while Suede and Pet Shop Boys were handed Q Icon and Outstanding Contribution to Music awards respectively.
Robbie Williams claimed his Q Idol award was simply invented to ensure his attendance at the bash.
"Of all the made-up awards to get a celebrity to an awards show," he said.
However, he added that he was, "genuinely chuffed. I'm 40 next year and I've been around for loads and loads of years, and people still deem me important enough to roll me out and get me here and give me an award, and for that I'm very, very grateful."
Matt Mason, the magazine's senior editor, said: "It's been a privilege to celebrate another brilliant year for music. We keep being told that these are tough times for the industry, but the evidence here suggests the opposite."
The awards are voted for by Q readers and staff.
