The pop star Lady Gaga enjoyed a double chart success yesterday as both her latest album and single rose to the number one spots.

Telephone went to the top of the singles chart. Its promotional video features Beyoncé, a lesbian kiss, swearing and a story of mass murder. Her album The Fame rose four places to number one.
