Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Nigerian Afrobeats star DaVido has shared a remix of his track "FIA" with Stefflon Don.

It's a perfect collaboration - the pair fuse their respective African and Caribbean sounds together for a sweet slow burn that was made for the club.

Check out the track below and read our chat with DaVido about his career so far:

Q&A with DaVido

You just played a sold-out show at Brixton Academy to 3,000 people, what was that like?

It’s been a long time coming, in the past I’ve done a thousand, 2,000 venues, and the funny thing is I didn’t even sell out those, so this was crazy. Every day I see new people of different races listening to my music, so I feel like this is my year.

Your music is being heard more and more in the UK and around the world, what's the key to that success?

Grind work. I put in the work, I toured so much last year and I think that’s rubbing off now, just making sure you’re being heard, being everywhere… not everyone in the crowd knows your music when you go somewhere new.

You brought out Wizkid at the Brixton show so we're assuming that beef is over - how did it start?

We’re both the biggest back home so… it was unnecessary competition.

Do you think you might end up working together?

We’ll patch up the relationship first before we work together but… it might happen!

You've already done a bunch of collaborations but you seem quite picky about who you work with

Collaborations are very important. Bringing two worlds to one. I work with a lot of people, Popcaan, Young Thug, Rae Sremmerd, Tinashe… I’ve been focusing on working with myself but I’ll probably do some more collaborations this year.

What’s the one thing you want to achieve this year?

Get the album done!
