David Cameron pictured with a Corbynista and cigarette at Wilderness Festival

David Cameron and Jeremy Corbyn might have very little in common ideologically but they both appear to have a certain affinity for a festival.

Mr Corbyn was of course the man of the moment at this year’s Glastonbury. Revellers were not only pictured with the words “Jezza” surrounded by love hearts on their foreheads but the Labour leader’s speech attracted tens of thousands of festival-goers who chanted “ohhhh, Jeremy Corbyn" to the tune of White Stripes hit "Seven Nation Army" and brought the entire festival to a literal gridlock.

But while so-called “Jeramania” swept Glastonbury, the same could not be said of Mr Cameron’s appearance at Wilderness Festival in Oxfordshire this weekend. The former British Prime Minister kept a comparatively low profile at the upmarket music event and nobody was shouting “Ohhhhhhh David Cameron”.

But despite not opting to do any public appearances, the former Conservative MP was caught on camera posing for a photo with a fancy-dress-clad Corbyn fan.

Clutching a full glass of wine in one hand and a cigarette in the other, Mr Cameron appeared to have been waylaid by fellow festivalgoer Lucy Edwards.

Seemingly oblivious to the fact Ms Edwards' back was emblazoned with the words Corbyn in a love heart, the politician sported his expertly practised smile.

Ms Edwards, who was wearing a sequin jacket with a neon pink heart adorned with the word Corbyn, posted the photo on Instagram and said: “Couldn’t have even planned it."

“Big Dave C in the house, shame he can’t read," she added and later said: “He was so mad when he saw me walk off with what was on my back.”

But this was by no means Mr Cameron’s only photo opportunity at the extravagant music festival which has been dubbed “poshstock”. He was also spotted in a selfie, which has since gone viral, taken by Labour activist Vanessa Price and her husband.

While those around him beamed, the former PM looked like he was having a distinctly wearisome time as he looked directly at the camera lens. His wife, Samantha, on the other hand, was more focused on the activities on stage.

Ms Price, a Labour councillor who has previously campaigned against Mr Cameron's policies in his nearby former constituency Witney, has since explained she had no idea Mr Cameron was in the crowd until they had taken the selfie.

Wilderness festival in Cornbury Park – a stone’s throw from the Camerons’ Oxfordshire home – has garnered a reputation for being one of the poshest, if not the poshest, music events in the UK. It has a lakeside spa, horse riding, yoga workshops, and a champagne bar on site.

Mr Cameron’s trip to Wilderness follows a Conservative MP’s recent announcement he is organising a “Tory Glastonbury” inspired by the support given to Mr Corbyn at the Somerset event this year.
