From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Ricky Gervais, who played cringe-worthy boss David Brent in The Office, will play in character along with his backing band Foregone Conclusion at the Hammersmith Apollo and Oxford New Theatre.
Gervais, who is currently in Canada filming Night At The Museum 3, hinted at the extra gigs to his Twitter followers on Monday.
“I will be announcing a couple more Foregone Conclusion gigs very soon. Stay tuned. #Excited (Not Sexually,” he wrote.
Tickets to David Brent and Foregone Conclusion sold out in under 15 seconds when they first went on sale in the autumn last year.
The gigs included an appearance from former Razorlight member Andy Burrows, who was part of Brent’s backing band.
The set for the new dates will include popular songs made famous in the hit BBC2 comedy, including “Spaceman Came Down”, “Life on the Road”, “ Slough” as well as new material.
David Brent returned to the limelight last year with a special appearance on Comic Relief featuring his new single “Equality Street”.
Gervais later revived the character in a series of YouTube guitar tutorials called “Learn Guitar with David Brent”.
David Brent will play in Oxford on 14 May and in London on 16 May. Tickets will go on sale on Friday 7 March at 9am.
