From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

David Bowie’s final recordings will be released next month alongside the cast recording of Lazarus, the singer’s musical.

Studio versions of three songs - “No Plan,” “Killing a Little Time,” and “When I Met You” - will be available to the public for the first time, the tracks recorded with the same band who worked on Blackstar. They are co-produced by Bowie and long-time collaborator Tony Visconti and will be released 21 October.

The three tracks appear in Lazarus, which opened in New York on the 7 December 2015 and ran through until the 20 January earlier this year. The production reaches London’s King Cross Theatre 8 November.

Michael C. Hall, who plays the lead in the musical, will be performing title track “Lazarus” at the Mercury Prize ceremony; Bowie’s Blackstar is nominated for the award.

Meanwhile, a report recently began circulating that Bowie’s ashes were scattered at Burning Man, something The Independent has revealed to be false.
