Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Former Breton bassist/multi-instrumentalist Daniel Alexander has been developing his voice as a solo artist for the past year - releasing the single DOUBLEGLAZEDGAZEDOWN earlier this month.

He's since released new single "The Gulf" via French record label Maison Ainsi - we're premiering the lyric video (which he put together himself) today.

Check out the premiere below:

Q&A with Dan Alexander

About The Gulf

More fall in by the day - sea, sand, and city. Its breadth/depth simply murderous now. Its existence painfully unsustainable, but it’s closing approaching. How or when remains unseen. Until then people fall.

What are you listening to at the moment?

Kojey Radical – Kwame Nkrumah

Actress – AZD

Aldous Harding – Party

Dark0 – Oceana

Sevdaliza – Amandine Insensible

What are your plans for 2017?

To release new music and play more shows; connect the dots, align the planets, etc

What was the first gig you ever played and what's been the best so far?

First gig was a school assembly, a four piece - three guitars, drums, no bass. Sounded incredible. Mufti day so was dressed extra fresh.

Played a show in Marseille with a few thousand people there, decided to stage dive over what I conservatively reckon was about 45 ft. Nailed it. SCURVS.

"The Gulf" by Daniel Alexander is out now on Maison Ainsi
