From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Craig David has announced a new single from his upcoming seventh studio album The Time Is Now.

"I Know You" is a collaboration with Bastille frontman Dan Smith, which David spoke about with the The Independent in October.

“It’s weird, when you’ve written a certain number of songs, you know when a song has something," he said of the track. "I’m so glad we actually did it, because we were talking about it for so long. But to also have a song that in its own right, if someone else was singing it and I heard it I’d be like ‘I wish I’d written that’.

“I think every session I approach as something fun. When me and Dan came in together we were in sync, we were both open to doing something that leant a little bit out of our comfort zones. I think it’ll surprise a lot of Bastille fans, and my fans as well maybe. There’s something about this song. It feels like we delivered on something more than we could have delivered apart. These songs feel like they’ll stand the test of time.”

Smith added: "We’ve always been huge fans of Craig’s music and have become mates over the past few years after playing some shows together, so writing a song together in the studio felt completely natural. We had so much fun making “I Know You” together, and I’m excited for everyone to hear it.”

David's album The Time Is Now is released on 26 January 2018 and will feature additional collaborations with AJ Tracey, Ella Mai, Kaytranada, JP Cooper and Goldlink.

David and Bastille will mark the release of 'I Know You' with a debut live performance of the single on BBC One’s new weekly music show It Sounds Like Friday Night, which David will also co-host alongside Greg James.

It Sounds Like Friday Night airs on BBC One tonight at 7.30pm.
