Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The song, featuring Welsh crooner Tom Jones and Robin Gibb from the Bee Gees, the group that wrote the original song, was released to raise money for children in Africa. It knocked Flo Rida's "Right Round" featuring Kesha off the top spot.
Girl group The Saturdays were at number three with "Just Can't Get Enough," while U.S. glam diva Lady Gaga took fourth spot with "Poker Face," and American country-pop singer Taylor Swift rounded out the top five with "Love Story."
In the album charts, Irish rockers U2 held their place at the top of the rankings with their album "No Line on the Horizon."
But there were two new entries in second and third places: Annie Lennox with "The Collection" and American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson in third with "All I Ever Wanted."
The Kings of Leon, in the charts for 25 weeks, moved down one spot to fourth with the album "Only by the Night," while in fifth there was another new entry, Taylor Swift's "Fearless."
