From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Ghost Stories, the band’s sixth studio album, will be released on 19 May.
The band revealed the news on Twitter with a link to a track from the album called “Magic”.
“Our new album, Ghost Stories, is out on 19 May. Listen to the first single, Magic, now,” they wrote.
Ghost Stories will be Coldplay’s sixth studio album after their latest 2011 release Mylo Xyloto.
The band’s previous five studio albums have all reached number one in the UK official chart.
Last week Coldplay unveiled a new video for another track on the new album called “Midnight”.
The tracks mark a departure from the band’s radio-geared, stadium rock anthems, with a return to a more alternative sound.
Before “Midnight”, Coldplay’s most recent single was “Atlas”, which featured on the soundtrack of last year’s film The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
The track, which was nominated in the best song written for visual media category at this year's Grammy awards, will not feature on Ghost Stories.
The band also recently announced they would play at the opening night of the first US iTunes festival on 11 March.
Ghost Stories is available to pre-order now.
