Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Coachella festival has announced its line-up for 2016 and, as expected, a Guns N’ Roses reunion will be the main fixture.

The band will headline on Saturday night now that Axl Rose and Slash have buried the hatchet while LCD Soundsystem will take charge of the Friday and Calvin Harris the Sunday.

Ellie Golding, Sufjan Stevens, Jack U, A$AP Rocky, Churches, Sia, Major Lazer and Beach House are among the acts taking main support slots, in what is arguably not the strongest line-up the Indio, California-based festival has ever seen.

The weekend of music will take place at Empire Polo Grounds between 15 - 17 April and 22 - 24 April, with passes going on sale on 6 January at 11am PST.

Other acts confirmed include Rae Sremmurd, Savages, Last Shadow Puppets, Joey Bada$$, Grimes, Courtney Barnett, Run the Jewels, Vince Staples, Cold War Kids, Silversun Pickups, Deerhunter, SOPHIE and Death Grips.
