Your support makes all the difference.Veteran rockers REO Speedwagon have teamed up with digital design company Curious Sense to star in a new PC and Mac game called REO Speedwagon: Find Your Own Way Home which features some of their best-known 1970s and 1980s hits as well as more recent material.
Players assume the role of an entertainment journalist who is about to finish filming a piece on the band by covering the opening night of their latest tour. However, lead singer Kevin Cronin goes missing and it's up to the roving reporter to find out what happened to him, as a series of mysterious clues unravel and the plot thickens.
Like many bands from the same era, REO Speedwagon has had to cope with several decades of personnel changes in order to stay afloat, and keyboard player Neal Doughty is the only one who has survived the storms since the band's first album in 1971, though Kevin Cronin can trace his involvement back to 1972 and bass player Bruce Hall joined in 1977.
The new game represents a way for fans to reacquaint themselves with the band which had a US number one album in 1980 with Hi Fidelity, and chart-topping singles with 1980's "Keep On Loving You" and 1985's "Can't Fight This Feeling."
Though REO Speedwagon: Find Your Own Way Home costs $8 (€5.45), the first hour of play is free and purchasers receive a voucher entitling them to 25 percent off Speedwagon's new Christmas-themed album, Not So Silent Night. There is also a "golden ticket" hidden within the game which gives the player a chance to win backstage passes to one of the band's 2010 concerts.
The game is already being hosted by The Republic Of Music, and is expected to appear soon on MSN, Yahoo!, and Bigfishgames.
