From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Appearing on Complex's Open Late with Peter Rosenberg, Chance confirmed the collaboration with West that had previously been hinted at by Francis & The Lights, adding that he's set to work on the seven-track project throughout July.
He also revealed his collaboration with Gambino, adding: "We've got six songs that are all fire, but I think the album is going to be more than 14 songs."
Chance actually credits his busy schedule somewhat to West himself. "What’s cool is Ye’s kind of got me in a mode of understanding, just, your ability to multitask and work on different things." he said.
West has been firing off albums of late, including his collaboration with Kid Cudi, Kids See Ghosts, and his solo outing, ye. He also produced new albums for Pusha-T, Nas, and Teyana Taylor.
“Kanye is my favorite rapper that I followed without knowing for a long time, and Donald Glover was the first rapper who was like, ‘Come on tour’ with me," Chance explained.
He added that he was "at least 30%" done with both collaborations, though couldn't give any estimated release dates.
