Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Celine Dion is set to headline the British Summer Time festival, marking her only European date this year.

The musician said in a statement: ”It’s my first time doing a show in beautiful Hyde Park. I’m so excited. I love London, and it’s a great honour for me to be part of the Barclaycard presents BST Hyde Park concerts. I can’t wait. Summertime in London, here we come!”

Dion will join fellow headliners Florence + The Machine and Robbie Williams for the Hyde Park music festival.

She will perform on 5 July, with the rest of the line-up yet to be announced.

It will not only mark her only scheduled European date in 2019, but will come a month after she closes her second Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace.

James King, senior vice president of AEG Presents, the organisation behind BST, said: “Celine’s record-breaking career has seen her perform her many iconic songs on the globe’s most iconic stages, yet never before in Hyde Park.”

“It is therefore with the utmost excitement that we are bringing Celine Dion to Hyde Park for her only European show of 2019.”

Tickets will be available through a fan pre-sale on 23 January, with general sale tickets available on 29 January.
