The Scottish producer posted about his calculated decision, which was made last year.
"It worked to an extent - my Producer of the Year nomination came through and I was happy the beard was performing as well as I had hoped..." he explained.
Harris wasn't entirely wrong in thinking his facial hair might help him be taken more seriously at the Grammys: a study on the effects of cranial and facial hair concluded that beards channelled maturity and power according to both women and men.
This study supports the idea that "facial hair is associated with age and grown manhood."
But then he explained when things started to go downhill for him and his beard - at the 2018 Grammys ceremony.
"Unfortunately this weekend I learned that even a new beard has its limitations," he said. On Sunday I lost out to the incredible Greg Kurstin. A big ol' beard can only take you so far. An important lesson learned that I am happy to pass forward to all of you good people."
Apparently his loss to Kurstin for "Producer of the Year" triggered him to make a new life change - and shave his beard.
"Now my beard is gone, the experiment completed and I can move forward with 2018!" he wrote. "God bless and thank you for your support !!!"
