BTS put on an incredible performance of their new song, “Dynamite”, at this year’s virtual MTV VMAs ceremony.

The band’s show came as they celebrated the track becoming their first-ever No 1 UK single.

The VMAs marked the first time “Dynamite” had been performed live, and the seven-piece had clearly gone to every length to ensure it was a special moment.

Dressed in suits, the band performed in front of a virtual New York backdrop, which alternately showed them in Brooklyn, Times Square, and in front of the Manhattan skyline.

The band ended up taking home the award for Best Group, beating competition from the likes of Little Mix, CNCO, 5 Seconds of Summer and Twenty One Pilots.

They also won Best Choreography (”On”), Best K-Pop video and Best Pop video.

“Dynamite”, an English-language, funk-inspired track, was released last week and has already broken records, including the most views on YouTube in a single day.

In just 24 hours, the music video for “Dynamite” achieved 101.1 million views. It also set a record for the biggest music video premiere in YouTube’s history, with three million peak concurrent viewers tuning in to watch for the first time.

“Dynamite” made it to the top of the iTunes charts in 104 regions and, for the first time for a Korean act, in first place on Spotify’s “Global Top 50”.

The VMAs also included performances by Lady Gaga, The Weeknd and The Black Eyed Peas.

Lady Gaga triumphed with five awards on the night, while The Weeknd took home the biggest prize, for Video of the Year (”Blinding Lights”).
