Jamie Lynn Spears was made a trustee of Britney Spears’s estate two years ago, according to newly seen court documents.

According to court documents obtained by the LA Times, the younger Spears sisters is now attempting to gain more control over Spears’s assets amid an ongoing battle over the “Toxic” singer’s conservatorship.

In a court filing made last week, Jamie Lynn Spears, who starred in Nickelodeon series Zoey 101 as a teenager, requested that all the assets from the singer’s trust be relocated into new accounts with Fidelity Brokerage Services, of which she is a custodian.

If approved, this would move Spears’s financial assets from the trust, which was established in 2004, and into those accounts, with a judge’s approval being needed to remove them.

Under the amendment, Jamie Lynn Spears, 29, would be able to administer Spears’s assets to her children upon her death. Jamie Lynn Spears signed the documents last week.

According to the LA Times, the filing does not seem to be directly related to the battle over her conservatorship.

Last week, it was determined that Spears’s father Jamie would retain control of her personal life, career and estate until at least February 2021, despite the singer having requested that he be removed as her conservator.

Jamie Lynn Spears has recently spoken out in defence of her sister, telling a follower who asked why she didn’t speak about “her sister’s obvious mental illness”: “You have no right to assume anything about my sister, and I have NO right to speak about HER health and personal matters.”

“She is a strong, badass, and unstoppable woman, and that’s the only thing that is OBVIOUS.”
