Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Florence + The Machine have been confirmed to headline a night of British Summer Time Hyde Park Festival next summer, along with rapper Kendrick Lamar.

The Mercury Prize nominees, who stepped in last minute to headline Glastonbury last June after Foo Fighters pulled out, will play in the London park on Saturday 2 July.

The band released their third album, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful to warm reviews earlier this year. The all-day gig will also feature sets from Jamie xx and Blood Orange.

Tickets for Florence + the Machine go on sale today at 10am and you can buy them here: Saturday 2 July, Hyde Park, London.

“It’s a real honour to headline Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park,” Florence Welch said in a statement. “It’s an iconic place to perform, especially for a British artist. I grew up in London. All of my first gigs were here. We will put on something really special. What’s amazing is that we have free reign, so we are going to make something magical happen!”

Mumford & Sons (buy tickets here) and Take That (buy tickets here) have also been confirmed to headline BST Hyde Park shows, on 8 July and 9 July respectively.

Recent Hyde Park gigs have seen the likes of The Rolling Stones, The Libertines, Blur, Taylor Swift and The Strokes entertain large crowds.
