Your support makes all the difference.Jack Whitehall is returning to host the annual Brit Awards in 2019. The British comedian and actor broke the news on Twitter, writing: “It’s happening on 20 February, we’re back at The O2, it’s live on ITV. Let’s see who I can upset this year.”
Whitehall was referring to his many cheeky one-liners that targeted a number of celebrities at this year's ceremony in February, including the likes of Olly Murs, Little Mix and Sam Smith.
Despite his often tongue-in-cheek and occasionally controversial humour, he has been invited back to hos for the second time, with Brit’s chairman Jason Iley commenting: "Jack was one of the best Brits hosts the show has seen for many years – I’m delighted he has decided to do it again next year. He was so funny and very engaging, I can’t wait to see what he will bring to the show in 2019."
Over the last few years, Whitehall has firmly established himself in the entertainment industry with a long list of achievements in both film and comedy. He completed two sold out arena tours of the UK in 2014 and 2017, including three sold out nights at London's O2 Arena. His most recent work has included Disney's The Nutcracker and The Four Realms and the studio's upcoming Jungle Cruise starring Hollywood actor Dwayne Johnson.
Whitehall is one of the few celebrities to have hosted more than once, joining comedian, actor TV host James Corden and radio DJ Chris Evans, who have hosted solo four times each.
This year's Brit Awards ceremony included appearances by artists including Justin Timberlake, Jorja Smith and Stormzy. The British grime MC's set was one of the most talked about moments of the night, thanks to his incendiary performance that called out prime minister Theresa May over her handling of the Grenfell Tower disaster.
The Brit Awards 2019 take place on 20 February at the O2 Arena in London.
