Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Ellie Goulding was among the first of the nominees to show up, wearing a pink corset dress that would not look out of place in a Disney princess' wardrobe.
British dance act Rudimental appeared suited and booted in bright, lairy patterns shortly afterwards, followed by Boy George who seemed to have been punched in the face (or was that just 'artistic' make-up?).
Katy B rocked some red lycra, while the multi-nominated Bastille opted for simple yet suave tuxedos.
Pharrell Williams, performing tonight with Nile Rodgers, left his bizarre over-sized Grammys hat at home in favour of a glitzy metallic suit and Jessie J chose a quirky lilac lipstick to set off a beige catsuit.
There were no Wizard of Oz costumes a la 2008 from the Arctic Monkeys tonight, who instead chose the dapper route, while Laura Mvula, who opened Sunday night's Baftas with Tinie Tempah, wore a white and black ruffled number.
Only pop duo Rizzle Kicks seemed to realise that it is, in fact February, and wear coats.
