From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Brand New appear to have split up in subtle, potentially lucrative fashion, posting a link on Facebook to funereal T-shirts that say 'BRAND NEW 2000 - 2018'.
"Three new designs are now available on our store," they wrote, though it was this definitive design that was chosen for the lead picture.
The '2018' suggests the band still have a few farewell concerts left in them - maybe even another album.
Brand New seem to have had this expiry date in mind for a while, an 'RIP BRAND NEW 2018' postcard having been included with copies of their 2009 album The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me.
That LP was a big hit, but the band lost momentum with Daisy, altering their sound in accordance with the aging of their originally teen fan base, but deviating from what they were good at.
A fifth studio album is still yet to surface, in spite of the band having drip fed a fair few new tracks recently.
