Bill Burr is under fire on social media after mispronouncing a singer's name while presenting a series of awards at the Grammys 2021 premiere ceremony.

When presenting Best Regional Mexican Music, the comedian mispronounced winner Natalia Lafourcade’s name and apologised.

“I can’t say this name. And the Grammy goes to Natalia Lafourcade. I will accept on behalf of her. If I butchered her name, I’m sorry. Natalia you won. That’s it,” he said.

The King of Staten Island actor also joked that “feminists are like going nuts” about him presenting the Grammy for Best Tropical Latin Album.

“Why is this cis-white male doing all this Latino stuff?” he mocked.

“Bill Burr botched that so much I could barely get happy about Natalia LaFourcade, Billie Eilish and Taika Watiti winning,” one viewer wrote.

“The @RecordingAcad needs to own up to this failure of selecting Bill Burr as a presenter,” another viewer wrote.

“What a terrible choice. He clearly does not recognise how important this is for artists. If you can't get a presenter who gives a fck how do you expect anyone to take you seriously.”

“Forced to remember the existence of Bill Burr yet again,” wrote another.

“It’s the quarterly attempt at cancelling Bill Burr for being hilarious I see,” wrote another viewer.

“Having Bill Burr present the Latin Rock/ Alternative Album Grammy... is a choice,” wrote another.

Burr also recently sparked controversy on social media last fall when he hosted Saturday Night Live.

The notoriously provocative stand-up performed a routine which covered topics including “cancel culture”, Pride month, and the commandeering of the “woke movement” by white women.

Burr began his monologue by praising people who adhered to coronavirus safety measures, specifically the wearing of protective facial masks. However, the comedian then said that he didn’t mind if people refused to wear masks either.

“Take out your grandparents,” he said. “Take out your weak cousin with the asthma, I don't care. It's your decision. If you're that dumb and you want to kill your own family members, by all means do it.”
