From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. This lineup is bordering on ridiculous: the BBC's Biggest Weekend has added even more acts to its already-enormous festival billing.
Florence + The Machine, who previously headlined Glastonbury, will perform at Singleton Park in Swansea on between 25 - 28 May alongside the likes of Taylor Swift, Camila Cabello, Ed Sheeran and Craig David.
Other acts added to the lineup include Clean Bandid, Not3s, Demi Lovato, Anne Marie, 30 Seconds to Mars, Shawn Mendes, and Bastille.
The event has been billed as a "Glastonbury replacement" while the other music festival takes its traditional fallow year, to allow the fields at Worthy Farm to recover. The Biggest Weekend consists of four venues in Swansea, Coventry, Belfast and Perth.
US pop star Demi Lovato told Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw that her backstage demands at the Swansea event would be fairly modest.
"I love kale chips," she said. "So flavoured kale chips - cool ranch or zesty nacho or regular old sea salt."
Bastille said they "can't wait to head to Swansea... it's awesome to be involved, and we're really excited to be part of the lineup alongside such a big mix of artists."
The Swansea event is sold out, but tickets for the other locations are still available. Highlights of the four-day festival will be broadcast across BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Four, and the BBC's music radio stations.
