Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

When At the Drive-In were quietly added to the line-up of an Ohio music festival recently, it was cause for a small “oh sh*t!” among fans.

Only a small one mind, as band member Jim Ward later “seemed rather surprised” by the supposed reunion when asked about it by the El Paso Times.

But today I’m pleased to report there is cause for an emphatic, full bellied “OH SH*******T!”, as the band have posted a teaser on Twitter confirming their return.

It only gives us a date - 1. 21.16 - but you can sign up on their website to be kept informed on exactly what will be happening.

There’s a snippet of music in the clip - all psychotic drum fills and noodly guitar riffs (it actually sounds more like The Mars Volta) - which I’m pretty sure is new music.1

A tour is most likely what’s coming on 21 January, another show in Atlanta having today been confirmed. The possibility of new music, perhaps even an album, is very exciting however, though it’s not known if the full band will be returning.

UPDATE: This banner image apparently briefly appeared on the AtD-I website, seemingly confirming new music and the line-up:

UPDATE 2: It's really happening!

1Please correct me if I’m wrong; it definitely wasn’t on Relationship of Command but could be from an EP I missed.
