From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

FKA twigs, Kodak Black, French Montana, Frank Ocean, Kid Cudi, Playboi Carti, British grime star Skepta and more make appearances. The album was executive produced by Rocky and co-executive produced by Hector Delgado, Juicy J, Chace Johnson and AWGE.
Ocean appears on two songs: "Brotha Man" with French Montana, and "Purity" - the latter of which samples Lauryn Hill's track "I Gotta Find Peace of Mind".
"A$AP Forever" credits Moby and samples his cinematic track "Porcelain", which featured in Leonardo DiCaprio film The Beach. Meanwhile opener "Distorted Records" takes a brief swipe at Donald Trump with the line: "My newest president a asshole/Guess that's why I'm leaving turd stains."
Contributing vocals include credits to Puff Daddy, Snoop Dogg, BlocBoy JB and Juicy J, while MGMT's Andrew VanWyngarden is listed as the composer, lyricist and keyboardist on "Fukk Sleep" ft. FKA twigs.
The US artist had been teasing the new record for some time, finally confirming it was set for release on 25 May earlier this week.
He told Complex in an extensive interview that he was trying to evoke the musical equivalent of LSD: "Do you ever hear people when they describe that LSD experience and they tell you about colours that they never seen before?" he said. "That's what I'm trying to describe. It's the manifestation of drugs... without being so vocal about it."
Speaking about Testing with Zane Lowe on his Beats 1 show to celebrate the release, he revealed he had collaborated with more artist on tracks that didn't make the final cut.
"I was working a lot with Lana Del Rey for the past two years," he said, referring to features on her latest album Lust for Life. "I worked a lot with Tame Impala and MGMT, so it was just like, these are the people I admire."
