From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. Kanye West hit out at Justin Timberlake’s comeback song “Suit & Tie”, the Grammys and commercial sponsorship in an 11 minute on-stage rant this weekend.

Speaking at London’s Hammersmith Apollo while performing his track “Clique”, the singer revealed his distain of JT and Jay Z’s latest collaboration. “I got love for Hov, but I ain’t f***ing with that ‘Suit & Tie’,” he said.

He began his vent by rallying against the money-obsessed music industry. “I hate business people. People get on the phone with me and tell me: 'What kind of business can you do, though? What type of business are you doing? What's the numbers? How much did you sell? What's the radio spins? How much shampoo can you sell with your face on it and shit?'” he said.

The singer also criticised the Grammys, saying: “Remind me again why we in this shit. Can you remind me again why we in this shit? Since when [is] making music about getting rich? Since when [is] making art about getting rich?... Remind me again why we in this shit. Remind me again why the Grammys couldn't suck my dick."

He continued: "So, you gonna help me put on a better show, corporations? Can you please support me? Please? Me, Kanye West. I swear I'm a nice leader now. I swear I'll put the pink polo back on. I swear to you. Please. Just for $3 million. I need it so bad. I need a pool in my backyard! So I'll tell all my fans your shit is cool. And if they believe in me, then they’ll also believe in you."

The R&B star appeared to have cooled down by his second gig at the Hammersmith Apollo on Sunday. He told fans: “I got shit off my chest last night but I’m feeling good tonight.”
