Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

It was announced this morning (16 May) that the Sheffield quartet - led by Alex Turner - will bring new album Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino to the Royal Albert Hall for a surprise charity concert in aid of War Child on Thursday 7 June.
To obtain tickets, fans must enter a ballot which is open from now until 8pm on Sunday 20 May.
Successful applicants will be notified on Monday (21 May) where they will then be instructed to buy tickets with all proceeds going to charity.
The group, who released their sixth record last week, recently completed a run of US dates before a string of European shows including Primavera Sound in Barcelona. They previously announced their return to the London stage would occur in September at the 02 Arena.
Earlier this week, they dropped a video for new song "Four Out Of Five" which was inspired by the works of directors Stanley Kubrick and Rainer Werner Fassbinder.
You can find a ranking of all Tranquility Base's album tracks here.
