With Alex Turner currently busy touring The Last Shadow Projects alongside musician Miles Kane, it seems attentions are still a long way off from being focused on his band Arctic Monkeys.

For those hoping the Sheffield rockers' sixth studio album was somewhere on the horizon, Turner has now confirmed that new music is still a long way off.

Speaking after a Pyramid Stage set at Glastonbury Festival last Saturday (25 June), the singer was asked by Radio X whether he had immediate plans to release another Arctic Monkeys album.

Turner replied: “No, there aren’t really, Not yet. But there will be at some point. I mean, we’ll see with that. No rush.”

Arctic Monkeys' previous record AM became their fifth consecutive number one when it was released in 2013.

Drummer Matt Helders has also been making the most of the band's hiatus having appeared on Iggy Pop's latest release Post Pop Depression alongside Josh Homme.

Turner's Last Shadow Puppets bandmate Kane revealed that they have enough material to comprise a third record but are planning to "have a break." Turner continued: "The plan was to end [Last Shadow Puppets] at the end of the summer, and I think we'll stick to that."

The Last Shadow Puppets - whose second chart-topping album in eight years was released in April - are currently embarking on a European tour which will land in London for two dates at Alexandra Palace on 15-16 July.
