From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

The 27-year-old singer - who was found dead at her London home on July 23 - had been working on a follow-up to her 2006 album 'Back to Black' and the tracks dealt with the end of her relationship with Blake, who divorced her from prison in 2009, citing infidelity.
A spokesperson for her family said: "Amy always had a notebook on her and would write down lyrics and ideas. People who have heard the new songs say that they are very, very good and as autobiographical as ever. The period after 2006 was when Amy went through the most emotional upheaval, with Blake going to prison and then their divorce."
According to the Mail on Sunday newspaper, the material will be released next year using vocals from Amy and her friends, with proceeds to be donated to the Amy Winehouse Foundation - the charity her father, Mitch Winehouse, wants to set up to help people overcome drink and drug addiction.
Meanwhile, Amy's breakthrough album, 'Back to Black' - which was also inspired about her relationship with Blake, who she married in 2007 - has shot to number one in the UK album charts, while her debut album, 'Frank' reached number five, and special package of both albums went to number 10.
