Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Blur's frontman, Damon Albarn, has revealed that the band are planning to record more new songs. The Britpop pioneers, whose revival last summer drew huge crowds, created intense interest when their first new song for seven years, "Fool's Day", was sold through independent record shops in limited numbers last month.
The single was seen as a one-off, but Albarn has now confirmed that more material is in the pipeline. He told the NME: "I'm definitely going to do a few more of those 'seven inches' [vinyl records] and, at some point in the future, there will be a record at the end of it. I love the no-pressure aspect. Just going in the studio and recording it in a day is something we haven't done since the B-sides in the early days."
However, Albarn said the band would not be able to record an entire album in the near future. "We can't do it all the time, so I don't want anyone to think there's an album coming soon," he said.
Only 1,000 copies of "Fool's Day" were made for its release in support of Record Store Day. The song can now be downloaded for free from the band's website.
