From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Adele has shared a picture of herself studying the script for her Saturday Night Live hosting debut in a rare Instagram post.

In the photograph, the singer can be seen wearing a mask and laughing as she reads the script. Adele captioned the image with the words “three days to go” and a heart emoji.

Adele announced last week that she would be hosting an episode of SNL for the first time. She surprised fans with the news via an Instagram post that coincided with an announcement from the official SNL account.

“Bloooooody hellllll I'm so excited about this!! And also absolutely terrified! My first ever hosting gig and for SNL of all things!!!!” she wrote.

Adele has appeared twice as a musical guest on SNL. She made her debut in October 2008, then again in November 2015.

The 32-year-old, who will not be singing during her appearance, said it felt as though she had come “full circle”, commenting: “It'll be almost 12 years to the day that I first appeared on the show, during an election... which went on to break my career in America, so it feels full circle and I just couldn't possibly say no!”

Adele will be joined by US artist H.E.R as the musical guest on 24 October.

Her appearance on Saturday Night Live has led fans to question whether her highly anticipated fourth album could be around the corner.
