From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Adele has confirmed that she married her "two best friends" Alan Carr and his partner Paul Drayton.

On Tuesday, the "Hello" singer shared the news via Instagram where she donned a priest's robes in the garden of her Los Angeles mansion.

In the photo caption Adele wrote, "Seeing as the cats out the bag. I married two of my best friends in January. You know me any excuse to dress up (sic)."

The post revealed that Adele not only hosted the nuptials, but performed the ceremony.

In speaking with stand-in hosts Emma Willis and Rylan Clark-Neal, the Carr addressed his wedding just one day after he told The One Show that Adele had hosted the event in her home.

The Chatty Man host also explained that Adele got ordained specifically so she could perform their wedding.

He said, "Yeah, [it was] in January. We got married in Adele’s back garden, in LA. I’m not giving you any postcodes! She’s known me and Paul for ages."

Carr - who has known Adele since they met at the BRIT Awards in 2008 - called her "the loveliest person going" and "what you see is what you get."

Carr said, "We've known her for ages and when we told her we were getting married she said 'Can I please plan the whole day for you?"

He said there was a "grand piano with a man playing 'Ordinary People'" and then Adele sang during their first dance.

Carr described the wedding further saying, "It was lovely. I just want to tell everyone. She won’t say because she’s so private. Flowers, three-course meal, she just planned it all. It was the best day of our life."

"I can never repay her, she's a one-off as we all know," Carr said.

Alan and Paul wed in January after 10 years together.
