From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Rapper 50 Cent is due in court on charges that he attacked his ex-girlfriend and trashed her apartment.

The hearing for the singer, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, is scheduled for today.

If convicted, the "In Da Club" singer faces up to five years in jail and $46,000 in fines.

The woman told police that during a 23 June argument, Jackson began destroying property at her California condo before she locked herself in a bedroom. She says Jackson kicked open the bedroom door and kicked her, causing injury.

Police estimated about $7,100 in damage to the home.

The woman told police she had been in a three-year relationship and has a baby with Jackson who has referenced drug dealing and violence in many songs.
