Your support makes all the difference.Liverpool is showing off a bit. Last year saw the emergence of bands like Hooton Tennis Club and Stealing Sheep, and for 2016 you've got The Hummingbirds; a five piece who have been building a steady following both in their hometown and around the UK.
They launched their debut EP Out of the Rain in November last year, and you can watch the video premiere for the catchy-as-hell song "Knocking On My Door" below. Listen out for neat hooks and some obvious Americana influences.
Q&A with The Hummingbirds
Who are you listening to at the moment?
There are a few bands that have been taking over my ITunes recently, but Neil Young has been dominating most of it.
There are some brilliant acts coming out of Liverpool right now - do you think new artists are using the city as a source of inspiration?
We have come across numerous bands and artists who will travel from around the globe with no booking in the hope to get a slot somewhere. Liverpool is undoubtedly the most musically influential city in Europe if not the world. You'll always find an open mic night somewhere.
First gig, best gig?
The first gig we ever played together with the four of us was in the basement of a bar in town, we only rehearsed the day before for two songs and ended up playing a full gig. (Winged it)
There a few shows that we struggle to pigeonhole as our favourite. But I think our O2 academy gig in Liverpool 2014 takes the title for me: 1200 people all there to see what we can do and to have them singing your own songs you've worked so hard on, that's what we do it for!
Close runner up would be Blâfrost in Norway. It's the best job in the world if you can get a buzz of a big crowd in a different country.
