From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Vampire Weekend are set to make a return to the UK this summer headlining the Cornish music event, Eden Sessions on June 24 with special guests Broken Bells.

The New York indie quartet first played the Eden sessions in 2008 when they were special guests to The Raconteurs.

Famed for their sunny African- and classically-influenced tunes, Vampire Weekend hit the top 20 in the UK with their self-titled album in January 2008 releasing indie hits such as Oxford Comma, and A-Punk. This January saw the release of the band's second record Contra, which reached number three in the UK album chart, and spawning the singles Cousins and Giving Up the Gun.

Tjarko Wieringa, Eden Sessions Creative Director, said: "We're thrilled to be welcoming Vampire Weekend…They've become one of the biggest and best indie bands in the world and, with two albums now under their belts, have created an unmistakable sound.”

"We’re also privileged to be showcasing the Broken Bells so it’s a fantastic way to kick off a summer of live music at Eden!"

Vampire Weekend and Broken Bells join the session line up, which includes Jack Johnson and Mojave 3 (June 26), Doves and Mumford & Sons (July 2), a dance extravaganza with Calvin Harris, Audio Bullys and Reverend Soundsystem (July 3) and Paolo Nutini and Martha Wainwright (July 13).

The 2010 Sessions will be the ninth season of summer gigs at the Eden Project. Performers in previous years include Oasis, Kasabian, Florence and the Machine, Paul Weller, Hot Chip, Muse, Editors, Snow Patrol, Basement Jaxx, Amy Winehouse, Moby, PJ Harvey and The Verve.

Tickets for the Vampire Weekend and Broken Bells Session go on sale to members of the Inside Track programme at 6pm tonight (Tuesday April 20) and on general release at 6pm on Tuesday April 27. They are priced at £35 plus booking fee.
