Haiti Fundraiser at the Roundhouse, London
Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. The Haiti Benefit Gala, supporting ActionAid and Médecins Sans Frontières humanitarian aid efforts following the recent earthquake, has announced the release of tickets and the first few names to play the event at Camden’s Roundhouse venue on Thursday 25th February.
American 3-string guitar troubadour Seasick Steve will be among the names at the event, with northern rock giants The Futureheads joining Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Magic Numbers, Mr Hudson and Bombay Bicycle Club. There will also be DJ sets from The Maccabees, Zero 7, Mat Horne and Kate Nash with presenters including irreverent TV commentator Charlie Brooker, Edith Bowman, Harry Shearer and Marcus Brigstocke.
The initial line-up, brought together in only four days by music industry insiders - with support from industry bodies such as the Brit Awards 2010 - features a diverse range of music, comedy and television stars, programmed to create a spectacular evening of entertainment at Camden’s Roundhouse and, later, at the Proud Galleries.
Tickets are on sale from 2pm Friday 22nd January and can be purchased directly from the HEF website at haitiearthquakefundraiser.com .
With more acts still to be announced tickets will surely fly out quickly for the charity event, however donations can still be made to the charities ActionAid (274467) and Médecins Sans Frontières (1026588). 100% of money raised through the fundraiser will be donated directly to these two charities.
ActionAid staff are working around the clock to get aid to those who need it most under unimaginable conditions, supporting countless people who have been sleeping on the streets after the recent earthquake destroyed thousands of homes. MSF have already treated over 3,000 people, 400 of which have received surgery, but there’s so, so many more people to help therefore all donations are very much appreciated and put straight to work in the worse affected areas.
