Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

The Virgin Media Union stage brings fans established artists such as acclaimed trip hop producer, performer and ex-Massive Attack member Tricky, and blissed out French electronic duo Air. They both join previously announced headliners The Charlatans and Grammy award-winner Imogen Heap.

Fresh from performing at the World Cup kick-off show, South African band The Parlotones, Newcastle’s finest Detroit Social Club, and hot contender for the pop soul crown Rox will also be gracing the Virgin Media Union stage this summer - the ultimate platform for an eclectic mix of time-honoured talent and hotly tipped artists of 2010.

“The Virgin Media Union stage is such a great opportunity to showcase the very best in freshly squeezed talent, alongside some musical greats", says V Festival director, Bob Angus. "Some new acts who have played this stage have historically gone on to become big names so this could be a great chance for music lovers to discover the next big thing. Fans should keep listening for future announcements from us as we’ve still got a few more acts set to play!”

Ashley Stockwell, Executive Director of Brand and Marketing at Virgin Media, comments, “the Virgin Media Union stage has become synonymous with combining hot new talent and old favourites at V Festival, and this year is no exception. With indie legends, The Charlatans, playing alongside the exciting new sounds of Eliza Doolittle, Virgin Media is delighted to once again support this eclectic mix of artists.”
