Your support helps us to tell the story

From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Sadly I was only able to make one day of Lovebox this year, but either I picked the best day by far... or the whole festival must have been phenomenal.

It definitely helped that the whole day basked in blazing sunshine, while the park was spotted with some outrageous fancy dress outfits against the backdrop of a farmers' market, a funfair and a carnival all in one.

Despite a slightly dubious queue to get in, the Rizla Arena presented a thumping, euphoric enclosure from the larger festival, and while offering shade to a severely sunburnt group of revellers, had a fantastic strobe lighting effect of the sunshine through the trees, setting the perfect atmosphere for a soundtrack ranging from carnival to old school.

The Gaymers Stage played host to some brilliant performances from the New Young Pony Club and Cut Copy - who are definitely ones to watch - and the Gaymers Bandstand had some excellently quirky brass takes on recognisable tunes.

The Main Stage offered true Lovebox uniqueness in phenomenal performances from the likes of Grace Jones and Hercules & Love Affair, but my highlight was by far Hot Chip, with the brilliant One Life Stand, Over And Over and lastly Ready For The Floor whipping up the infamously laid-back and deliriously happy crowd.
