The film’s impact was magnified by Elmer Bernstein’s orchestrations, with brash trumpets, mocking reeds and louche, sizzling cymbals perfectly evoking the callous swagger of the showbiz milieu.
The score is accompanied here by Chico Hamilton’s music for the club scenes.
