Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Blackbird Blackbird, the project of San Francisco musician Mikey Sanders, is back in the blogs after releasing a slew of new tracks on its website last week, including "Modern Disbelief" and a cover of Modest Mouse's "Float On." Blackbird Blackbird "is constantly churning out new songs for us nerdy bloggers to obsess over," writes music blogger Wild Tonic (www.wildtonic.com). "As a follower, I can't help but wonder when the boy sleeps." Of the artist's rendition of "Float On," blogger We All Want Someone to Shout For (www.weallwantsomeone.org) writes, "He transformed it into a dreamy, synthed out delight that gives the song a whole new feel."
US-based indie artist John Vanderslice is a new face in the blogosphere after releasing a brand-new EP last week for free on his website. The EP, Green Grow The Rushes, includes six new tracks, notably "Lay Down" featuring Spoon drummer Jim Eno.
