Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Swedish folk musician The Tallest Man on Earth continues to be the most popular act on The Hype Machine on September 14, following the release of a new EP a week earlier. Indie singer/songwriter/musician Sufjan Stevens and rapper Kanye West remain in second and third, while Big Boi and Houses are climbing the chart.
Big Boi has recently released the track "Lookin 4 Ya" featuring his OutKast partner Andre 3000. The track had reportedly been intended for Big Boi's solo debut album Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty but didn't make the cut. The brand-new track is a rare collaboration between the two artists, who have done mostly solo work since their 2006 Idlewild soundtrack album. "Lookin 4 Ya" is now out in a "Jedi remix" featuring new verses from both musicians.
Houses is a duo made up of Dexter Tortoriell and Megan Messina, a couple who began making music together after moving from the US mainland to Hawaii. The duo is working on a debut album, All Night, which is due out October 19, and has just offered up the song "Soak It Up" from that LP as a free download. We All Want Someone to Shout For (www.weallwantsomeone.org) writes, "It's a light airy number that sounds like it could be playing to a beautiful sunrise that leaves you speechless."
