Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Brooklyn indie band The National keeps its status as the most blogged musical act of the moment on March 30, according to The Hype Machine, followed by Oregon-based experimental folk rock band Blitzen Trapper and Scottish group Teenage Fanclub. Amiong acts who have climbed into the top ten this week are Hot Chip and Prins Thomas.
British electropop band Hot Chip enjoyed its most recent round of blogosphere buzz following the February 1 release of One Life Stand. The band is back in the blogs with the release of the "I Feel Bonnie," a reworking of the track "I Feel Better" off the new album. "I Feel Bonnie" features American folk singer Bonnie Prince Billy and is due to be released April 17 (Record Store Day in the UK) on a limited edition record along with the new Hot Chip track "Bear Witness."
Prins Thomas (real name Thomas Moen Hermansen) is a Norwegian producer who often collaborates with Hans-Peter Lindstrøm to create music that is often categorized as "space disco." The producer is set to released his debut solo album on his label Full Pupp in April and has shared the single "Uggebugg" off that album. Dipped in Dollars (dippedindollars.com) writes "They're calling his sound 'cosmic disco' over in Norway, but I think these reverb heavy instrumentals speak for themselves."
