From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

British singer-songwriter PJ Harvey holds the top spot as the most blogged artist on December 8, according to The Hype Machine. Blackbird Blackbird, the project of US musician Mikey Sanders, climbs into second place, while US indie artist Perfume Genius takes third. Also new the day's top ten is legendary English New Wave band Duran Duran.

Perfume Genius, the moniker of Seattle-based 20-something musician Mike Hadreas, re-enters the top ten with the December 7 re-release of his 2010 album Learning featuring three new songs: "Dreem," "Your Drum," and "Divine Faxes." Hadreas "uses his quavery, slightly unearthly voice to tell nuanced stories in just a few short lines," writes blogger Extrawack! (extrawack.com). Blogger Rock Insider (rockinsider.com) writes that the "breathy and deep" tracks "provide such a surreal and calming atmosphere for the listener."

Iconic '80s band Duran Duran enters the day's top ten thanks to a remix of their track "Rio" by Italian DJ duo Fare Soldi, who were last in the blogs for their remix of Duck Sauce's "Barbara Streisand." "With spicy disco breaks and a heavy electrified backbone, the Duran Duran mix to 'Rio' is hot enough you won't need a fireplace," writes blogger Aerial Noise (aerialnoise.com).
