Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

American rapper Kid CuDi and rock trio Blonde Redhead are in second and third, and LCD Soundsystem and Tame Impala are also among the top ten.
New York dance-punk act LCD Soundsystem is back in the blogs more than a month after the release of its latest album, This is Happening, thanks to a remix of its track "You Wanted a Hit" by well-known Belgian production group Soulwax. Live for the Funk (www.liveforthefunk.com) reviews, "Here, they take this originally mediocre LCD Soundsystem song, add in their authentic Soulwax kick, and turn it into a fist pumpers' dream! Massive tune..."
Tame Impala, a psychedelic rock band from Western Australia, began rolling out its debut album Innerspeaker in May, and the album is now out internationally and making waves in the blogosphere. Irish-based blog Barry Gruff (barrygruff.wordpress.com) calls the debut album "dazzling," and writes, "For the most part the album is a beautiful blend of sunshine vibes, meandering melodic sensibilities (akin to The Bees) and raw fuzzy hooks and riffs, all perfectly complemented by Kevin Parker's eerie vocals meeting every melodic turn or rhythmic surge."
