Your support makes all the difference.British rapper M.I.A. continues to be the most blogged act on The Hype Machine on April 30, followed by the Brooklyn noise pop band Sleigh Bells, which is signed to M.I.A.'s record label. In third place is dance-punk act LCD Soundsystem, while Interpol and Phosphorescent are new to the top ten.
Interpol is a New York city indie rock/post-punk band that has become a critical and commercial success with the release of three studio albums. The band is set to open for U2 on upcoming tour dates and has a fourth album expected out soon. That album's first single, "Lights," is now available for free download, and bloggers are sharing their thoughts on the track. Tympanogram (tympanogram.com) writes, "Staying true to the theme of brooding, slow builders, the track is vintage Interpol. The band has stated on their next effort they would be attempting to make their own Kid A. Whether or not they hit the mark remains to be told."
Phosphorescent was most recently in the blogosphere in March, when the American indie folk/alt-country musician - real name Matthew Houck - and his band released "It's Hard to Be Humble (When You're From Alabama)" from upcoming album Here's To Taking It Easy. Another track from that album, "The Mermaid Parade", was just released and is being passed around the blogosphere. Here's To Taking It Easy is due out May 11, and the band will support the album with international tour dates this spring and summer.
