Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Crystal Castles is a Canadian electronic duo from Toronto known for chaotic live shows and a dark, melancholic sound. The duo's 2008 self-titled debut album was included among NME Magazine's Top 50 Albums of the Decade. Now the band is a hot topic in the blogs after collaborating with English rocker Robert Smith of the Cure on a remix of the band's version of the 1984 single "Not In Love," originally by New Wave act Platinum Blonde. "The track has a definite 80's synth-pop feel to it," blogs The Music Ninja (www.themusicninja.com), "and will have you reminiscing of days of huge bangs, neon colors, and the word rad."
Also back in the day's top ten is French house DJ duo Daft Punk, consisting of Guy-Manuel de Homen-Christo and Thomas Bangalter. The two recently composed the much-hyped film score to the upcoming Tron: Legacy, the sequel to 1982's Tron. Buzz continues to build as bloggers are circulating samples from the soundtrack (now set to release on December 7) and a new video for the track "Derezzed." "I'm expecting a fantastic soundtrack, definitely not Daft Punk album number four," blogs Sundtrak (www.sundtrak.com).
