Deerhunter and Animal Collective's Avey Tare maintain their spots in the top three, while alternative band Phoenix and electronic act Caribou rejoin the day's top ten.
French musicians Phoenix earned widespread recognition for their fourth studio album, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, which topped critics' "best of 2009" lists and earned a Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album. Now the band is promoting its upcoming concert in New York's Madison Square Garden on October 20 by offering a free download of "Love Like a Sunset Part III" to anyone who tweets about the show. "The hippest and coolest French band" proves that "immense success can happen to good people too," writes Modern Mystery Blog (modernmysteryblog.com).
Caribou, the performing name for Canadian electronic musician Daniel Victor Snaith, was in the blogs last spring for the release of the album Swim. Now touring in North America in support of the album, Caribou recently announced news of a remix album, Swim Remixes, dropping November 1. "Caribou combined striking lighting elements with enchanting music that created an environment that was impossible to stand still in," reviews Melophone (www.melophone.com) of a concert in Portland, Oregon.
