Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

For weeks, bloggers have been sharing tracks from electronic funk duo Chromeo's new album, Business Casual, officially released on September 14. "The album's catchy beats, sensual vocals, and retro synths all added up into something I couldn't deny," reviews The Needle Drop (http://www.theneedledrop.com). "At its core, the LP is a pop record, but it's well-traveled and seeks to pay homage to its forefathers: George Clinton, Huey Lewis, and the Bee Gees."
Deep into their 2010 worldwide reunion tour, indie rockers Pavement have entered the blogosphere after playing four shows in New York's Central Park this week. On September 20, the band also performed "Gold Soundz" on the American cable television show The Colbert Report on Comedy Central. No Genre Music (http://www.nogenremusic.com) blogs about one of the performances on the tour: "The band tore into [the track 'Silence Kid'] with a ferocious passion that settled any fear that the band was going to glide through their set like disinterested veterans."
