Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.US musician and DJ Gregg Gillis, a.k.a. Girl Talk, is the hottest act in the blogosphere for the second consecutive day according to The Hype Machine on November 19. Swedish pop band jj is second while US rapper Kanye West drops to third. Meanwhile, New York's Bikini joins the top ten.
In the days before the release of Kanye West's fifth studio album, bloggers are swapping and reviewing his collaborations with Nicki Minaj, M.I.A., T.I., and Kid Cudi, among others. Of the track "Lost in the World," featuring Alicia Keys and Bon Iver, Blah Blah Blah Science (blahblahblahscience.com) writes it "sounds, feels, bleeds like the work of an artist who absolutely had to create it."
New York indie act Bikini climbs into the top ten after the release of a dance pop track "American Mourning" from their upcoming EP, RIPJDS, an acronym for Rest in Peace J.D. Salinger. The new track is "just dripping with the spacey synths and haunting vocals that sparkled so brightly in their debut single, 'A Cheerleader,'" blogs Altered Zones (alteredzones.com).
