Your support makes all the difference.Toronto electronic act Crystal Castles is the most blogged act recorded on The Hype Machine on April 22, after announcing that its forthcoming self-titled album will be available digitally on April 23, more than a month before its physical release. Dance-punk act LCD Soundsystem and Los Angeles noise rock band Health are in second and third, while Beach Fossils and jj have climbed into the top ten.
Brooklyn lo-fi indie band Beach Fossils is set to release its self-titled debut album on May 25. This week, the band offered up the track "Youth" from that album. Citizen Dick (citizendick.org) writes, "Probably of more importance is the unique spin on garage-centered solo creative philosophy. ....There's a raw edge, but a super calming gleam to the sound." Raven Sings the Blues (ravensingstheblues.blogspot.com) says, "This album completes our trifecta of perfect summer albums (along with Woods and the tragically undersung Hanoi Janes album), wafting in on fumes of lackadaisical youth and bored summer memories stitched together by odd jobs."
Jj is a Swedish pop group whose most recent album, jj no. 3, came out in March. Bloggers are now passing around the band new track "Ceo Birthday," a piano ballad the band recorded to celebrate a new mystery group, ceo, on the band's Swedish label Sincerely Yours. Bloggers call the track a personalized cover of "Birthday Sex" by American R&B artist Jeremih.
